I haven't heard a lot of 60s HK bands but they seem to have been pretty good. So far though I haven't heard much original stuff that came from there. Unlike, say, Singapore, where they recorded lots of original material, as well as covers.
there's a few original songs by teddy robin & the playboys but your right lots of covers. mexican groups had the same problem, if they covered british & american groups songs they would get the hit in mexico.
